Vashlovani National Park is situated in the eastern region of Georgia. Initially established in 1935, the park aims to protect its distinctive shallow forests. In April 2003, the park’s boundaries were extended to encompass an area of 84.80 km² (32.74 sq mi), forming Vashlovani National Park, which now covers 251.14 km² (96.97 sq mi).

The park features a dry climate, with elevations ranging from 150 to 50 meters (490 to 160 ft) above sea level.
