In Tusheti you should definitely bring comfortable sports or special mountain shoes.Besides that, summer and winter clothes at the same time, because during the day mostly its hot,but in the evening you get cold, so you will need warm clothes  in the evening because of the cold weather it is possible to sit close to bonfire or stove

You can’t bring some products that is made by pork or including any kind of pork  in Tusheti,  take into consideration that there are some places where women can not enter. Respect the rules and traditions that the locals have been following for centuries and that they believe in.

Day 1

Tbilisi to Omalo

Day 2

Dartlo, Kvavlo, Diklo, Bochorna, Dochu

Day 3

Shenako, Diklo and Old Diklo to Tbilisi

Itinerary - day by day

The tour will start at 06:00 in the morning, at the meeting place near big  bicycle in Rustaveli avenue.

Departure from Tbilisi via Gombori Pass (1620 m). We will visit Alaverdi Cathedral. After Lechuri village, Stori gorge starts and Tusheti road,from where we will cross Abano pass. (2826 m) We will visit the visitor center in Omalo village where you will get information about Tusheti‘s history, culture, sights and many other things. We will see Keselo Towers, After that we go to family guesthouses. In the evening we will have dinner with traditional Georgian and Tushetian  dishes.

Breakfast at the family hotel. Then we will visit the villages of Dartlo, Kvavlo, Diklo, Chesho,Farsma and Girevi. Here, you will  find out courtroom where even female judges were held. Beside that we will visit  Tusheti towers ,  which are included in the UNESCO list of protected monuments and  which was restored after the distruction with the village Dartlo. We will have lunch in the nature and stay here untill evening, then we will return to the hotel. In the evening we will have dinner in the family hotel.

Breakfast in the family guests house, on this day we will visit some more villages. Shenako, Diklo and Old Diklo. Also Diklo Castle and St. George Church in Shnako which is dating back to the 19th centuey. We will have lunch in nature.In the evening we will back in the family guest house and we will have dinner.free time.

Breakfast in family guest house, after brea,We will visit Que view point then Village Bochorna, highest living place in Europe 2345 m above the sea level and after that we will get back Tbilisi.On the way we will have lunch, you will also meet many other villages and hamlets, many waterfalls and ravines, if lucky enough Niamors and many other  rare species of animals and birds.

CLOTHING

  • Comfortable riding trousers. T-Shirts.
  • Long sleeved shirts.
  • Short multipurpose riding/walking boots and half chaps. We recommend your boots are waterproof.
  • Waterproof coat.
  • We recommend a breathable coat. We recommend you bring clothes which can be put on in layers when it is cold and taken off as it warms up.
  • Fleece, jumper, or jacket.

  • Sunglasses – with a neck strap.
  • Casual clothes – for when you are not riding.
  • Shoes – for when you are not riding.

EQUIPMENT

  • Bum bag (waist bag) for keeping small items like lip salve close to hand.
  • Supply of candy/sweets to help keep up energy levels.
  • Water bottle. It is important to drink plenty of water, particularly if the temperatures are hot. Metal water bottles are particularly useful as they can double as hot water bottles at night!
  • You may want to bring a sleeping bag liner or you own sleeping bag
  • Pocket Knife (but remember to pack into your checked in luggage on flights).
  • Small torch – a head torch is particularly useful (take spare batteries).
  • Dry bags/supply of plastic carrier bags – always useful for separating wet and dry kit.
  • A sarong and flip-flops can be practical where washing facilities are limited.
  • Ear Plugs – if you are a light sleeper.
  • Bandana or Buff. These have a myriad of uses including keeping you cool when it’s hot or warm when it’s cold.
  • Contact lens wearers should take glasses as dry air can make contact lenses uncomfortable. If you do take contacts, we recommend daily disposable lenses.

  • Personal medical kit with antiseptic cream, pain relief tablets and sticking plasters.
  • Moisture absorbing baby powder can be useful to prevent chafing. Compeed blister plasters work well on sore patches, acting as a second skin. Sudocrem, E45, Vaseline or similar soothe rubbed skin.
  • Any medication you regularly take.
  • Sun protection cream.
  • Due to the altitude the sun can be strong, and we advise a high factor sunscreen.
  • Lip balm.
  • Insect repellent and after bite ointment.
  • Nasal Spray such as Similasan nose moisturiser which is good for the ‘dry nose’ that can develop at altitude.
  • Rehydration sachets (Dioralyte or similar, allow one per day). Imodium or similar.
